The Frontera Corozal Community Museum in Ocosingo, through the Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Research, rescued and reoriented the museum project towards an interdisciplinary and community process, participatory and horizontal with and from the community within the framework of the comprehensive cultural policy in order to revalue, strengthen, conserve, research, preserve and exhibit the cultural heritage of the inhabitants of the Usumacinta River basin in the Lacandon area.
The municipality of Ocosingo is one of the municipalities in which the state of Chiapas is represented, it is located in the east of the state and includes most of the Lacandon Jungle, its name comes from the Nahuatl word meaning Place of the Black Lord, it has various tourist places such as the Yaxchilán Archaeological Zone, the Toniná Archaeological Zone and that of Bonampak, as well as natural places such as La Laguna Miramar for eco-tourist recreation.
In Ocosingo the most important celebrations are the Fiesta de La Candelaria as well as the Trade Fair and the patron saint's festival which is celebrated from August 13 to 15.
