The municipality of Pijijiapan is a municipality in the Mexican state of Chiapas, located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Its name is composed of two words, one mame pijiji, palmiped bird of the region and the Nahuatl apam, place of water, which means place of pijijis. The main tourist attractions are the Estero Costa Azul Chocohuital, a lush eco-tourist attraction.
