El Ballenato Beach in Acapetahua is a virgin beach where a group of enthusiastic community entrepreneurs have built a comfortable space for local, national and international visitors. Acapetahua is one of the municipalities of the Mexican state of Chiapas. Its name comes from the Nahuatl Acatl-Petatl-Hua and is interpreted as Those Who Have Reed Mats. It is one of the main conservation sites for Biodiversity in Mexico, like La Encrucijada, which is a very important species reserve in the region.
In Acapetahua the most important celebrations are those of the Lord of Esquipulas on January 15, La Candelaria on February 2 and San Francisco de Asís on October 4.
