The Church of Santo Domingo in Comitán de Domínguez was built between the 16th and 17th centuries, next to the former Dominican Convent stands the imposing Temple of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, patron saint of the city founded in 1556 by Dominican Friars. The façade stands out for its neoclassical style and its massive tower with cubic bodies reminiscent of Mudejar art.

Municipality

Comitán de Domínguez is a municipality located in the Mexican state of Chiapas, Comitlán which means place of potters, a word that was Hispanicized as Comitán, today it is a thriving municipality characterized by its variety of architectural styles ranging from neoclassical to neo-Gothic and art nouveau and even Mudejar. It has several tourist attractions for visitors such as the Historic Center of Comitán, the gardens and streets, the Uninajab Spa, the Church of Santo Domingo, the Archaeological Zone of Tenam Puente and more.
