The Temple of Jesus of Nazareth in Comitán de Domínguez dates back to the 19th century and has long since ceased to be a hospital chapel. Behind it, in the mid-20th century, a building was built to serve as a market, later it served as a Convention Center and is currently the municipal offices. To one side of the church is the Plaza de las Artesanías.

Comitán de Domínguez is a municipality located in the Mexican state of Chiapas, Comitlán which means place of potters, a word that was Hispanicized as Comitán, today it is a thriving municipality characterized by its variety of architectural styles ranging from neoclassical to neo-Gothic and art nouveau and even Mudejar. It has several tourist attractions for visitors such as the Historic Center of Comitán, the gardens and streets, the Uninajab Spa, the Church of Santo Domingo, the Archaeological Zone of Tenam Puente and more.

In Comitán de Domínguez the most important celebrations are the Feast of San Sebastián on January 20, the Feast of the Virgin of Candelaria on February 2, the Feast of San Caralampio from February 11 to 20, the Feast of Santo Domingo and the trade fair, and the Feast of the Virgin of the Rosary on October 7.
