The Yaxchilan Archaeological Zone is an incredible option to visit. To get to Yaxchilan, visitors must first arrive at Frontera Corozal, where the Escudo Jaguar Tourist Center is located, and sail the waters of the sacred Usumacinta, the largest river in Mexico and the longest in Central America. Yaxchilan originated as a small village about two thousand years ago; over time it became one of the most important cities in the Usumacinta basin.
