The Convent of San José Coneta in La Trinitaria is made up of magnificent ruins of its church dating from the second half of the 17th century. It is a single-nave building with an extraordinary façade that makes it one of the greatest monuments of colonial Chiapas art. The importance of this building lies in the unique expressions produced by local artists in a remote town of colonial Chiapas. Its superimposed decoration has no parallel anywhere else in the state; the architectural forms do not refer to other known ones.
